Apple Valley School Homework!

You will be given graduation points this week. The amount of points you are given depends on how well you do your homework.

This week you will be taking an Apple Valley School spelling test.  There will be two lists. A challenge list and a regular list. You may choose which list you study for. However, more points will be awarded for the more challenge words.

Next week we will have an Apple Valley Math Test!

I have sent home an interview page with your 2nd Grader. I would like them to complete it by interviewing a parent or preferably, a grandparent about their experience of school. We are studying what school was like in the past and it is always interesting for the students to think what it was like for their family members.

Reading: I always encourage the kids to be reading at home. They do about 20 mins of reading a day at school, but they should be reading in some form at home. This could be Raz-Kids, reading to a parent or even being read to.

We are beginning to work on times tables this week and although a number of students have already begun memorizing them, everyone can benefit from practice. I am trying out a new game called Times Table Rockstars which is the winner of a number of Educational Technology awards. The children should know their log-in details, but if not, I will remind them at school tomorrow. I would like the students to play around on this website this week.
